Argentina is located in the southern hemisphere, with winter beginning in June and summer starting in December. But Northern Patagonia and the Andes are located among the largest mountains in the world, therefore weather systems can be unpredictable.
November through April are usually mild months; the weather can vary from sunny in the mid 80°sF (25-30°C) to rainy with temperature averaging the mid sixties. Since this area stands at 2,300 feet (701 meters) above sea level and higher, it cools down significantly at night, with temperatures reaching the lower 40°sF (mid single digits Celsius), even mid 30°sF (low single digits C). While temperatures are mild relative to their counterparts at similar latitudes in the northern hemisphere, a constant companion is the wind, which blows hard all year round.
So when is the best time to visit? That depends entirely on you! At Caballadas, we offer trips from November to mid-December, and March to first week of May.
